Mission

The Waldorf School of Tampa Bay is a community of teachers, staff, parents, and friends who honor childhood and value each stage of human development. Our goal is to educate the whole child to meet the world with grace, integrity and initiative through a balanced and comprehensive academic, artistic and practical curriculum.

History

Beginning in 1991, a group of parents and teachers passionate about the then little-known Waldorf Educational movement in our area held playgroups, public lectures, workshops and festivals to educate their own children and grandchildren and share this unique curriculum with the public.  The Suncoast Waldorf Association then formed as a non-profit corporation, which later received its tax exempt status.

The Suncoast Waldorf School finally opened its doors in 1998 at a temporary space in Clearwater.  In 2006, the school purchased the current oak-shaded campus in Palm Harbor, serving Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

Now The Waldorf School of Tampa Bay is the premier, holistic school in central Florida, and one of only two Waldorf schools in the entire state.  Current Waldorf families across the United States and the world find their way to us in their desire to continue this education for their children, as more and more families in the Tampa Bay area discover the Waldorf Difference.

“Excellence in education is when we do everything that we can to make sure they become everything that they can.”

Carol Ann Tomlinson, American educator, author and speaker.
